Song background:

My sister asked me to write a song about missionary work and sharing the gospel. For each song that I write, I always choose a talk by a general authority as the basis for the song. I asked her to find a talk for me to use and she chose "Catch the Wave" by Elder Russell M. Nelson. As I wrote the piano accompaniment for this song, I tried to capture the imagery of ocean waves rolling gently into shore and then gradually building and building, just as this "unprecedented wave…of missionary work is sweeping the entire earth."

Lyrics: Like the stone that Daniel saw
Cut from the mountain without hands,
The gospel is rolling forth
to spread the truth in ev'ry land.

God's servants sweep the earth,
So many precious souls to save.
I will add my voice to theirs,
And catch this wave!

It's a wave of truth and righteousness sent from God above.
It's a wave of hope and joy, a witness of God's love.
It carries this message for all the world to see.
I will catch this wave, and make it part of me!

Just like Joseph sought the truth,
And through him it was restored.
So many also seek,
And are looking for the Lord.

God wants the world to know
About His Son He freely gave.
I will testify of Christ,
And catch this wave!

So many precious souls to save,
Catch the wave!
