More about Patricia Kearney Moe:
Patricia Moe studied bassoon at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Throughout her 30-year career as instrumental and vocal music instructor in Fonda and Newell,Iowa she composed and arranged over 100 titles for school use. Her recent compositions for church and concert choir are settings of Biblical texts and poetical works.
"How Long, O Lord" is an Advent anthem pairing an original song based on Lamentations 1:4 with the traditional hymn, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel". A haunting two-measure baritone solo introduces and concludes the piece. The SAB choral writing is straightforward and manageable by nearly any choir. As director of a small church choir, I realized there is a need for good literature for small choirs with limited rehearsal time. This piece was written for the choir of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City, Iowa.
