Lyrics: In Eden, mankind's mother made the choice, By tasting death, to give her children life. She passed through sorrows that we might rejoice, Knew good and evil, lived by toil and strife. Our father Adam took the fruit of death, Exiled himself from earthly paradise, Exchanged long innocence for mortal breath, Foresaw Messiah's coming sacrifice. Lo! In another garden knelt and bled That Shepherd our first parents knew of old. His flesh and blood the souls of all men fed, Gave life, and conquered sin for all his fold. Within that garden and upon a cross, His suffering bought our souls with mercy sweet, Made intercession for our pain and loss, That in his Father's mansions we may meet. In gratitude and love let us recall Those ancient ones who fell that men might be, Adore the Christ who saves us from the Fall, And offer him our hearts on bended knee.
