Taylor has written music and lyrics for three musicals and over a hundred songs.
Song background:

This is a song that didn't make it into our production of Joseph Smith: Praise to the Man. It was written for John Taylor to sing at the end of the show to explain why he won't leave Joseph and Hyrum alone in jail, it was replaced with a different number that functioned as a way to end the story for Joseph instead as the production was refocused from a multi-perspective narrative into a conversation throughout with the jailer of the brothers. The last tag of it was later put back into the show for Hyrum to sing in Liberty in a counterpoint with Lucy and Emma Smith before Joseph received the revelation known to us as D&C 121 and 122.
